RE: Inverter "Pops" when powered up

mmadhatter, the popping sound is very likely the transfer panel selecting the house power, as opposed to selecting your generator. If your Harney is wired like my (former) HR was wired, you must turn off the inverter (at the inverter) at all times. You may turn the inverter on from within your coach, and not at the inverter. This should only be done when the batteries are charged. Always make sure the inverter is not turned on when you store the vehicle. It will run down the batteries and as soon as you turn anything on, it will not invert (low batteries) and will start to let the smoke out of appliances. Ask me how I know. Arnold

RE: Test

I don't know for sure, but my observation the last time I overnighted at the Hi-LOW campground near Deming,NM there appeared to be more women than men. Rich, I am sorry that would not be acceptable to you. Arnold

RE: When you are camping with other people.....

Somebody will go into the woods and kill some camp meat and we will cook it in a pit or on a spit. We will then share that meat with the entire camp. While someone is hunting the meat, others will hunt for roots and berries. Whatever is found is shared. All the while, someone else will be brewing and distilling the drink for the group. A good time is had by all. Well, it sounds like fun, but actually EVERY ONE of our friends (we don't have many) is engaged in some really screwy diet and we can not eat that low on the food chain. We always prepare and eat our own stuff. If we are staying together for more than a week, one of the screwy dieters will usually like to show off how closely their diet resembles real food and will invite us to share with them. We always accept the invitation. When we reciprocate with an invitation, they usually decline with "regrets". Arnold

RE: Fired up the new Champion Generator

Well, Big, there are different kinds of voltmeters. For a voltmeter to remain accurate at varying levels of voltage and different AC waveforms, it must be a True RMS voltmeter. If yours is not a True RMS voltmeter it will not read accurately with different waveforms and sometimes with different frequencies of AC. If your generator is not a true sine-wave generator it will likely have a distorted waveform when the engine is heavily loaded, and thusly the voltmeter will be in error if it is not a True RMS voltmeter. RE: Replacement Tyres for 38ft DP

oldfield, I believe you have some of the best RV tires available with the ones you now have. I also believe that Michelin recommends they be changed out when they are about ten years old. Just have them inspected by your trusted tire dealer and follow his recommendations. I bought the same model tires in the Phoenix area for about $455 per tire, mounted and balanced. Mine were sold to me by Discount Tire Co. in Mesa, AZ. Arnold

RE: Tex-Mes resturant

Tex-mes is pretty good groceries and will fill the empty spot nicely. It also will nourish the body with calories. But still, even after I grew up in Tx, I prefer Mexican food prepared in the Jalisco style. There may be as many regional varieties of Mexican food as there are of Chinese food. Of the few that I have sampled, I like Jalisco best! Arnold

My Mah Jongg Card for 2008 has arrived today.

Hoorah for the USPS. They finally got my Mah Jongg card, and Carol's card also, to the house place where we reside when we are at home. Today we will utilize these new cards so that we will be a bit familiar with them when we get to our summer abode and play Mah Jongg with the "big girls". Hooray! (In addition to "Hoorah!") Arnold

RE: Lake Murray State Park - OK

Our favorite camping area at Lake Murray is Buzzard's Roost. It offers the finest of night time views, with Wild Bill's old stone house on the promontory across the water. It is lighted with foot lights. It also houses an interesting museum, which is accessible from water and by road. Daytime the marina is reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast of France. The marina is home to every type and size of boat and welcomes transient boaters as well. The hangers-on who will gather around are a mixed bag of society, ranging all the way from billionaires to vagrants. The point of campground nearest the lake is for tent campers and popups. A little bit removed, but a short walk, there are hookups, W/E. It is also not too far from the lodge and restaurants, if one needs those. Arnold

RE: RV park near Plano, Texas

Spring Creek RV Park is IN Plano,TX. It is not great, but it is near. It is on the east side of the highway, and is difficult to reach with a lot of construction going on, at least when we were there. Arnold

RE: leveling jacks intermittent failure

On my previous Mh I had the kick back HWH levelers. They would sometimes fail to operate. It was usually when it indicated "Low Battery". The indicator is located on the operating control panel for HWH. When the batteries were low the light was dim and difficult to read. After I would charge the batteries they would work. Also, after I cleaned the battery terminals and the cable terminals the events were less frequent. Arnold

RE: Bought in AZ but, Texas residency - help please

superflatz, I bought my truck and my TT both in AZ and have them both registered in Polk County TX. Just call the tax collector's office in Polk County and explain your situation. The clerk there handles these kinds of situations daily, He/she will send you the required documents by mail or fax and will explain to you how to fill them out. If you should make an error on one of them he/she will help you to correct the error. You do not have to have the state inspection done until you return to TX. Arnold

RE: First Big Mistake

I have done that also. I was fortunate to have installed the breakaway brakes, so no harm. I have also left the campground with toad in "Park". Not so fun. I realized it when I heard the tires screeching on pavement, after reaching the hiway. Arnold
